Biography
Despina Apostolska is a research development officer in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston.
Apostolska’s goal is to help Khoury faculty submit winning research proposals; this entails identifying funding opportunities, developing and distributing resources, and supporting events like Research Mondays and CAREER Club. With a background in project management for software development and marketing communications teams, she brings a wide range of skills to her role, such as developing project plans, identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities, monitoring progress, and leading cross-functional teams.
She first joined Khoury College in 2022 as a project manager on the social media team, and appreciates the college’s focus on interdisciplinary, impact-driven research that addressing real-world challenges. She enjoys seeing cutting-edge artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and human–computer interaction work brought to bear in fields like health care, policy, and ethics, and admires the way Khoury College’s culture emphasizes collaboration, accessibility, and inclusivity.
In her free time, Apostolska loves designing floral arrangements, reading, and playing the piano.
