Khoury Sparks: A Lightning Talk Series is an engaging, high-impact, 20-minute talk series that connects prospective graduate students with Khoury faculty and current graduate students. Khoury Sparks showcases cutting-edge research, applied projects, and teaching innovations — highlighting how graduate study at Khoury College is exciting, attainable, and deeply connected to the needs of today’s tech industry.
In Computing: Where It’s Been, Where It’s Going – A Professor’s Journey, participants will step into the thrilling world of computing with Dr. Elizabeth K. Hawthorne, who will take you on a whirlwind tour from Alan Turing — the pioneer who sparked the age of AI — to the mind-blowing possibilities of 21st-century artificial intelligence. Along the way, you’ll hear her personal journey as a computing student and professor, starting before the Internet even existed, and learn how that path led her to directing cybersecurity programs at Northeastern’s Arlington, VA campus.
