Biography
Jiaqi (Ella) Li is a doctoral student in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston. She is advised by Herman Saksono and Michael Ann Devito.
Li’s research focuses on the equitable and inclusive design and redesign of sociotechnical systems and tools to support the well-being of marginalized and at-risk populations. She is particularly interested in mixed methods approaches. Her own lived experiences have profoundly shaped her commitment to her work, which she hopes will help to address systemic inequities.
Before joining Khoury College, Li worked in data science and UX research. Her time as a research assistant at the University of Michigan focused on digital health equity, health informatics, online communities, and reparative description in data curation. Her work has appeared at CLEF, CHI, JMIR, and AMIA.
In her free time, Li loves meeting new people, trying new events, going to music festivals, hanging out with her cat, and kickboxing.
