Mingyi Li is a doctoral student in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Boston. She is advised by Maitraye Das.
Li joined Khoury College in 2024 to pursue a PhD in human–computer interaction, drawn to the school by its vibrant HCI community. Her goal is to design and build tools to support people with disabilities in authoring content and creativity. She hopes her work will help to raise wider awareness and consideration of accessibility, as well as increase disability representation.
Before joining Khoury College, Li served as a research assistant at both UC San Diego, where she supported novice visual designers, and the University of Michigan, where she facilitated communication and collaboration between older adults and caregivers. She also interned at Microsoft Research, where she investigated the fluid avatar representations of people in the workplace.
